Vietnam Veterans "Sons of the Hunter" – the story of 104 Vietnam Veterans
compiled by Maree Rowe
This book contains 104 short stories from Vietnam Veterans. It is a regional historical record in so much as it reflects the life in the services of Soldiers of the Hunter Valley in NSW; consequently the sub-title "Sons of the Hunter".
Each chapter is presented with a before and after photograph of each contributor, their Rank, Name, Army service number, Unit and Tour dates. Contributions are from both regular soldiers and national servicemen. The complimentary photographs, poems and sketches make this a very worthwhile publication.
This book will certainly jog the memories of the Vietnam Veterans in our Sub-branch but will also help the more senior members recall their experiences whilst serving in the various avenues of war; whether they be overseas or on Australian soil and whether the record be of happy times, sad times or times in between.
What a great record of events would be recorded if the experiences of the members of this Sub-branch were contributors in a book of this nature? Give it some thought and discuss this idea with your friends. It maybe too late, later on!
