With the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month and the centenary of Australia’s commitment in the First World War, it is once again a time to pause and remember those who have died or suffered in all wars and peacekeeping operations.
This year marks the 98th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which ended the fighting in the First World War. Box Hill RSL Sub-Branch will again host a Remembrance Day Service in the Memorial Gardens adjacent to the Sub-Branch.
All members are actively encouraged to attend this most important ceremony.
Following the service there will be the unveiling of a bronze plaque commemorating all who served in that Great War. The plaque will be unveiled by two students from Box Hill High School who had relatives that served in that conflict – namely, Ellen Martin and James Gardner-Drummond.
